To understand the magnitude of this bonafide
miracle of healing, you must realize that
they said Hollis' liver was damaged beyond repair, for his tummy was accumulating
the enzymes secreted by the liver when it "dies". His abdomen would
fill up with the fluid as quickly as they could "tap" it off (above),
taking as much as 8 oz. or more---an amount equivalent to a small soda.
It was filling his
abdomen and pressing in on the heart and lungs, which also had fluid in
them. No doubt, they
said, that he would surely die soon!! He could not live long
without a liver, and they were not going to keep him on life support indefinitely
... so they called the family in to say "goodbye." Our "backs were
to the wall," and all we could do is cry out to God. And He heard
and answered us.
Thanks
to the prayers of many ... God changed things!
--2 Cor. 1:11 (the whole story yet to come).
Words to Beatles' tune "Hello, Goodbye" --
Chorus:
"You say, "Goodbye," and I say, "Hello!"
HELLO, GOODBYE, HELLO, GOODBYE, hello hello
HELLO, GOODBYE, I
don't know why you say, "Goodbye;" I say, "Hello!"

The
Saga of the
Mysterious
Sonogram
|
|
On Wed., Oct. 26, Hollis was taken to X-ray to video his sucking and swallowing
motion, after which Radiology consented to our request to do a sonogram
on his abdominal organs. After viewing the kidney, the doctor came to the
liver and became almost transfixed by what
he saw! He
called in the department head, an older doctor whose gray hair reflected
his years of experience. He put on gloves
to investigate for himself. Together they stared at the liver, reviewing
the same views over and over.
After 10 minutes I broke the silence asking, "What's your observation?"
"I don't know," was his reply. " Odd," I thought, thinking they just
didn't want to be interrupted. I was watching the same monitor they were
looking at. After another 10 minutes of the same routine I again
asked, "See anything mystifying?" almost jokingly.
Finally, he said, "We don't know what this
is!" (There
were white
sparkly agents covering
his entire liver). He ventured
several guesses, then added, "We've never seen anything like this before!
... Obviously, it's part of the healing process, something that's happened
since the infection."
Liver
Baffles
Doctors!!
On Dec. 5 they took another sonogram to try
to clarify what they had observed before. But again they had no answers---
just "educated guesses," and a caution not to be too overjoyed at the "sparkles"
on his liver ... that while it was part of the healing, the liver was still
very damaged and that they could not conclude whether their observations
were altogether good or bad. In other words ... THEY
DID NOT KNOW any more than they did before!
I assured them that God did, however, and that Hollis would be OK!
(I
guess they felt they needed to offer an explanation since they are paid
to have the answers, whereas God only knows!)
You can imagine the frustration of the doctors, who have never seen a liver
that had been so damaged heal from such devestation. We're simply grateful
that God breathed new life into a liver
they said was totally devastated, destroyed and dead! And now...
the liver is
WORKING!! Praise
God!I will
show a copy of the sonogram as soon as we can get a paper print of it .... |
